Dog Matching Services

It's not easy to know which dog is the right dog for you and your family. Adoption events are usually chaotic and filled with so many cute dogs and wagging tails that any family can become easily overwhelmed and select the wrong dog for their lifestyle. Unfortunately, the realization of having selected the wrong dog occurs after the family has already welcomed the four-legged family member, which makes the returning process emotional and painful for family members.

We will interview each family member to create a profile of lifestyle, personalities, and canine expectations for the new family member. We will consider living arrangements, social activities, and future plans so that the dog selected fits the family regardless of changes in circumstances. We wil create a list of dogs for consideration from the rescue(s) in which the family has been pre-authorized to adopt. From this list each family will select up to 4 dogs for assessment. We will work with the rescue organization to conduct an assessment on the following:
  • Proper Social Behaviors
  • Aggression - Dogs (testing with different age, breed, size, temperament and cat)
  • Aggression - Fear (testing with dogs and people)
  • Aggression - Food/Treat (testing with dogs and people)
  • Aggression - People (testing with gender, strangers)
  • Barking - Visitors, street activity, noises
  • Crate - Comfort with crate, entering/exiting, guarding
  • House Training - Capacity to learn
  • Handling - (touching sensitive spots, pulling, pinching - kid friendly test)
  • Leash Manners - (aggression, pulling)
  • Obedience - Capacity to learn: sit, stay, come, wait, etc.

A report will be provided to the family for each dog scoring the compatibility for the family to review. After selecting two dogs, a meeting will be arranged for the family to meet the selected dogs to evaluate the interaction between the family and dog. Suggestions will be made as to which dog fits best.

Additional testing for specific needs will be on a per case basis.

$300-$500 per family
